Tiffany Kurtz is new to OHS and a soon-to-be mother who will be teaching Introduction to Information Technology, Advanced Information Technology and Marketing.

“It’s nice when to have a dynamic of the kids that will speak out and be loud and say what they want to say and then also the students that want to work hard,” Kurtz said.

Each student should have the opportunity to be taught how to take that mature step into college or the work force. This is what Kurtz hopes to pass along to her students, and she wants to make sure her students can express themselves in the classroom.

Kurtz said she wants to take every opportunity to prepare her students for the next step “whether that’s what you might want to do next or the kind of behavior that’s actually acceptable when you go into the workplace, the kind of things you can and can’t do, or the way things are done outside of a classroom.”

She understands that high school classes don’t always teach students, and haven’t always taught her, everything that’s needed to be known after graduation, but she has still elected to try and “impart that knowledge to the students.”

Kurtz was a former DVUSD student and is familiar with some of the district schools. Prior to teaching at OHS, she has been working in the business industry for eight years doing payroll, accounting, and systems development.

She lives in the Valley with her husband and two stepchildren, an eight-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son, whom she treats as her own.

Kurtz is pregnant with her first biological son and is due in early September, which means a brief leave of absence for those who are her students. The child’s name will be Deklan Kurtz.
