Cross begins teaching career at OHS

OHS has a lot of new staff this year, including Uriah Cross. Cross is a US History teacher and is excited to be apart of the eagle family.
Q: When did you start teaching? Where? What grade level and subject?
A: “I was a long term sub at Boulder Creek for the 2nd semester of last year, I taught dual US history and senior government. This is my first year as a full time teacher.”
Q:What was your favorite subject in high school?
A: “Journalism.”
Q:What is your biggest academic accomplishment?
A: ”I graduated Summa Cum Laude which is the top 5% in my class. Also, I won in the Corporal’s course which is a mixture of physical, academics and leadership strengths from when I was in the Marine Corps.”
Q:What are three words that would best describe you?
A:Genuine, integrity and caring.”
Q:Hobbies?
A: “I play baseball, golf and hang out with my friends on my free time.”
Q:What you looking forward to this year at OHS?
A: “Really just having a great year, working hard, honing my craft as a teacher, inspiring my students and having fun.”
Q:What’s your favorite quote?
A:“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.”
Q:What high school did you attend?
A: “Schaller Tech Crestland in Early, Iowa.”
Q:What is one thing people would never guess about you? (fact about self)
A: “My sophomore year in high school I was 5’2 and weighed 112 pounds. Now I am 6’2 and 200 pounds.”
Q:Do you like teaching with all of this technology in your classroom?
A: ”Yes. The world is going this way and we instructors need to adapt as the kids do.”
Q:Who is your favorite actor/actress?
A: “Tom Hanks and Jennifer Lawrence.”
Q: What college did you go too?
A: “ASU”
Q:Anything else you’d like to add about yourself or OHS?
A: ”I am glad to be here. I hope to become a pillar in the community, they made a wise decision by hiring me.”
