On December 25th, Netflix released the season four trailer for Bridgerton, and with great anticipation. The question is, will Netflix follow the book or will they go their own way? In the past seasons of Bridgerton, they have made the main couple of each season very obvious, and each one has had a lot of chemistry. Based on the trailer, fans believe that season four will be a very good season because the audience will finally get to see Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, fall in love. People have found it very interesting that they are continuing the “Cinderella” theme that was present in the third book, An Offer from a Gentleman.
Fans of both the books and TV series adaptation of Bridgerton are hoping that, for this season, they might stick to at least the main elements from An Offer from a Gentleman. While most fans trust Netflix to do the fourth season right, some are a little nervous because of how Netflix has done things in past seasons. For example, Penelope Bridgerton, played by Nicola Coughlan, had a glow-up in season three. It was necessary for the plot, but the makeup felt too modern for fan’s liking, with the fake eyelashes and dramatic eyeliner.
Even though the third season did not follow the books, it was still good, and fans did enjoy it, which is why they have high hopes for the new season coming out. Even so, fans are curious if they will keep the two-year gap from the books, when Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha, goes to the ball that Lady Violet Bridgerton, played by Ruth Gemmell, is hosting. At the ball, she meets Benedict, then she leaves, causing him to look for her, or the “lady in silver,” for two years.
The audience likes that Penelope and Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuvel, are working together (in the other seasons, the Queen was always trying to figure out Lady Whistledown’s identity, and now that she finally knows it is Penelope). The majority of fans find it funny; however, that Lady Violet Bridgerton is trying to get Benedict to marry, and it kind of serves as a reminder of season two, where Lady Violet was pushing for Lord Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey, to get married. Viewers find it interesting that for season four, Lady Violet is hosting a masquerade ball as the first ball of the season, instead of Lady Agatha Danbury, played by Adjoa Andoh, and most know, without a doubt, that it will bring Benedict and Sophie closer.
Going along with the Cinderella theme, fans like that instead of leaving a shoe behind, Sophie Baek leaves her glove, as moments before leaving, Sophie and Benedict were dancing. Viewers can see Benedict in the trailer trying to find Sophie, but cannot find her; he is not only intrigued by her, but wants to be with her, and that becomes a problem when he is unable to find her. Another aspect the fans find amusing is that instead of Benedict falling for the “lady in silver,” he also falls for the maid who actually is the “lady in silver,” but he does not know it is kind of like a love triangle, which the audience finds funny, that he is falling in love with the same person.
Overall, many believe that season four of Bridgerton will be a good season and also an eventful one. Viewers will appreciate this season as it has tension, romance, and a Cinderella-like theme that will surely get the viewers’ attention.
