Nettspend’s sophomore album early life crisis released on March 6, 2026, two long years after his first album dropped, which received mixed reviews. Early life crisis had a rocky start because it was originally set to release a week prior, on February 28th, 2026. This delay was a shock and disappointment to fans since the album was delayed only minutes before it was supposed to be released. This delay killed a large portion of the hype for the album.
Before the album delay, early life crisis had a masterful rollout that brought new eyes to Nettspend, and that his core fanbase loved. Throughout the rollout, Nettspend’s team released trailers on his Instagram account that paid homage to classic early-2000s commercials, while also previewing his new songs. These trailers gave the album a clear aesthetic for fans to latch onto while anticipating the release of the album. The album cover was shown through Nettspend’s mom’s Instagram account, where she posted herself holding a CD of the album, boosting hype for her son’s career.
The album opens with the track “you ready?,” giving the album a beautiful intro that showcases how much Nettspend’s technical ability has improved since his last album. Throughout the album’s duration, Nettspend leans into the ever-popular rage sound by hopping on distorted, angry beats that shake the speakers while listeners play the album. While the majority of the album stays inside the grunge rage sphere, Nettspend tones it down on more chill-sounding tracks like “no sleep” and “make it bleed.”
There are only two features throughout the early life crisis runtime, the most prominent of which is YoungBoy Never Broke Again, appearing on the track “masked up,” delivering a signature raspy performance that fits perfectly with the out-of-control, distorted beat. This song really shows the strong points of Nettspend and Youngboy Never Broke Again, with both of them putting in the work to make this track a standout banger on the album’s 49-minute runtime. On the third track of the album, “pain talk,” listeners get an outstanding verse from fellow underground artist, OsamaSon. This came as a surprise to many longtime fans since in the previous year they seemed to have gone through a beef in private, where by the end they seemed to go their separate ways. This reunion from two artists that really made a name for themselves together gives fans hope for the future, while also providing a track that is sure to be replayed by hardcore Nettspend and OsamaSon fans alike
Although early life crisis does use its time well, listening to the album all the way through the rage sound can really become boring the more one gets into the album. If Nettspend switched it up on more tracks by giving listeners a more in-depth sound that changes as the album goes on, it would really capitalize on its core themes of an “early life crisis.” Another way to fix this would be to add more features to the album. While the two features already elevate the album to an intense level, some of the tracks could benefit greatly from a feature, like the song trap house 2016. This song already sounds like a track off of Che’s Rest in Bass, so getting him on this song would have elevated it to a much higher degree.Early life crisis is a good addition to the growing rage genre and Nettspend’s discography that leaves new fans and diehard stans wondering what he will do next concerning his music career.
