Girls basketball is a sport we take pride in at OHS. Both varsity and junior varsity teams effortlessly show their perseverance and hard work. With a promising winning streak, our girls basketball has crushed it this year, no matter how their season comes to an end.
Varsity:
Varsity is starting their new season off strong.
“My favorite memory was when we won our championship,” said Troy Jackson, senior.
By looking at their past accomplishments, there is a bright future ahead for the varsity team and they are very confident.
“Don’t give up and keep moving forward,” Jackson said.
No matter if they win or lose, the girls make sure to always have a positive attitude and a smile on their faces. They are extremely close as a team and lead each other, leading them to many victories.
“The goal is to get another championship ring,” Jackson said.
With how good their season is going it is looking like an easy feat to win another championship ring. With the team’s hard work and growth, it is easy to say there are many hopeful wins coming towards our girls.
“Winning an open championship is a huge goal of mine” said Bella elsholz, senior.
By having collective goals, the team shows that you should always embrace dreaming big.
“Give 100% effort no matter what you’re doing or who’s watching,” Elsholz said.
JV:
Our JV team is just as inspiring as the Varsity girls for their confidence and dedication. They give great advice and are always giving room to improve and learn.
“I would say to give it your all even when you feel you’re not good enough,” said Lily Schlinsog, sophomore.
The team has many great memories together growing their family-like bond.
“I would say our trip to Vegas to play a game because it was a bonding trip” Schlinsog said.
JV is great at always seeking advice on improvement and having goals for themselves.
“My goals would be to play confidently when I play, and play more aggressively,” Schlinsog said.
Being mature and knowing where to grow are very inspiring factors the team brings.
“A piece of advice I’d give myself would be to stay confident and don’t get in my head.” said Emma Maxey, sophomore.
Recognizing places to improve is extremely mature and respectable. OHS’s JV girl’s basketball team is great at chasing growth every day, in whatever ways they can.
“Some goals I want to achieve would be to work on confidence and skills outside of practice,” Maxey said.
