The Lady Eagles basketball team played the Apollo Hawks last night at home and won with a final score of 59-28.
“The first half was a little rough, but the second half we really pulled it together and pulled ahead,” said Courtney Schrade, sophomore.
During the first quarter, OHS scored two three point shots, which was enough to take the lead with a score of 6-5, and that lead carried through to the second quarter, sending the girls into the second half with a score of 21-14.
Throughout the third and fourth quarters, the Lady Eagles picked up their pace, and managed to increase their lead by over 20 points, winning them the game, with a buzzer beater shot in the last seconds by Schrade.
Including tonight’s game, so far this year the Varsity team has a record of 10-11 with just a few more games left in the season.
“The maturity of this team has been really evident since the beginning of the year,” said head coach Rusty Rogers. “I’m really proud of them.”
JV and Freshmen
Along with the varsity girls win, the JV team triumphed over the Hawks with a final score of 50-32, giving them a record of 9-4.
“I think we did great tonight,” said Nicole Santoro, sophomore, “We had a lot of boxing out and and a lot of offensive rebounds and I thought we did amazing.”
However, the freshmen girls team fell to Apollo with a finishing score of 31-25, giving them a 7-6 record.
Players Madde and Casse Jerousek said that they could have played better, but they did push it and have definitely improved since their first game.
Tonight the Lady Eagles take on Pinnacle at home, with Freshmen beginning at 4, JV playing at 5:30 and Varsity taking the court at 7.
