The Lady Eagles volleyball team won 3-0 tonight against the Desert Vista Thunder in the quarter-finals of the state tournament.
“This is the most inspired volleyball our kids have played all year.” said Bill Bellis, head coach.
The girls won the first two games 25-17 and 25-19, and then in the third game were challenged with breaking tie after tie in order to get ahead.
In the end, the winning point was scored by Olivia Brunt, sophomore, making the third game’s score 25-19.
“It was really fun to get that last point so we could win,” Brunt said. “I think if we just keep playing hard and playing together, we’ll do great.”
The team will continue on to the semifinals of the tournament, which will be held at Mesquite High School on Saturday at 4 pm.
“I can’t predict anything for the semifinals, but we’re gonna play hard like we always do,” Bellis said.
Present tonight to watch their girls play hard was the OHS Nest, clad in tropical shirts and toursity outfits.
“It was really fun to have everyone in the Nest so excited, ” Brunt said.
