OHS has settled into the new school year and is ready to start its extracurriculars. If you have been wanting to get involved but don’t know how, check out these clubs as a good place to start!
Art Club (Ms. Brados) – Art club is an open studio where you can connect with other artists while creating projects and having competitions.
Book Club (Mrs. Carponi) – In Book Club, you can pick a different genre of book each month with fun activities to go along with it.
Bring Change 2 Mind (Mr. Cross) – Bring Change 2 Mind is a club about removing the stigma surrounding mental health.
Business Finance (Mr. Cross) – Business Finance is a club for teaching students financial knowledge with real world applications such as financial literacy, investing, trading, and entrepreneurship.They also dive into crypto, and dabble with AI.
Chess Club (Mr. Anderson) – In Chess Club, students will meet sophisticated individuals and challenge them to a duel of chess.
Choir (Ms. Olds) – There are four different programs students can join in Choir. Harmonics is a competitive show choir that sings and dances. Honor choir performs a wide range of choral music. Eagle’s Voice is the welcoming, entry-level choir open to all students who want to grow as vocal musicians. All these choirs are part of the school day, but Synergy is the jazz choir that meets after school once or twice a week—and it’s open to new members now!
Commission of Academic Excellence (Mr. Cross) – In Commission of Academic Excellence, members will make proposals and come up with solutions to problems around school with the goal of presenting them to teachers and having them implemented. This club strives to make OC the best it can academically.
Creative Writing (Ms. Maxwell) – In Creative Writing, students who are interested in writing or anything literature-based are welcome! There are lots of workshops, poetry, etc.
Culture Connect (Mr. Totten) – In Culture Connect, students celebrate different traditions within different cultures with a lot of food! It is very inclusive and welcoming to all.
Drama Club / Stage Craft (Ms. Sutton) – In Drama Club, students come together to create amazing productions on stage, while also making friends, building confidence, and having fun in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Stagecraft is part of SkillsUSA and focuses on stage production and the construction of sets and technical shop work, as well as the designing of lighting, sound, costuming, and makeup.
EcoRise (Ms. Eick) – In EcoRise, students have the chance to volunteer at events as well as clean up campuses and parks in order to raise awareness about conserving the environment.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (Mr. Baumgartner) – The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is for students who want to learn more about faith and be around like-minded athletes.
Guard (Mr. Cilone) – Color guard combines dance, flags, and equipment to put on fun performances.
HOSA (Ms. Sahagan) – Health Occupations Students of America is an organization dedicated to promoting career opportunities in the healthcare industry by providing students with hands-on experience in the medical field.
Imagine That (Ms. Rincon) – Imagine That is dedicated to helping the special needs department and OHS by fundraising and gaining them additional funds.
Interact (Ms. Hoffman) – Interact is a club that branches from Rotary and focuses on leadership and service.
Mandarin Club (Ms. Deng) – Mandarin Club is a time for people who are learning or already know Mandarin to be able to catch up on assignments and receive tutoring. Students can also use this club to connect with other Mandarin speakers!
Math Honor Society (Mr. Williams) – Math Honor Society is helpful for students interested in STEM or looking for math help. It includes research alongside studying, combined with some friendly competition.
Mindworks Research Club (Mr. Archuleta) – In Mindworks Research Club, students explore, research, and learn while doing hands-on work like conducting surveys and experiments. Everyone will have the opportunity to publish their research.
Mock Trial (Mr. Devito) – In Mock Trial, students gain firsthand experience in the courtroom and also have a chance to work on their public speaking skills.
Model UN (Mrs. Burstynski) – In Model UN, students simulate the actual United Nations by acting as diplomats from assigned countries to discuss and resolve global issues.
NAMI (Ms. Sahagan) – National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) works to promote mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and support students’ well-being. The club organizes activities such as stress-relief events, awareness campaigns, and peer discussions to encourage open conversations about mental health. By creating a safe and supportive space, the NAMI Club helps students learn the importance of self-care, compassion, and advocacy for themselves and others.
Next Gen Engineering Club (Ms. Maxwell) – In Next Gen, aspiring engineers compete against each other in building competitions.
Peer Tutoring (Ms. Holt) – Peer Tutoring is a student-led organization that provides homework help, support, translation for ESL students, and general academic needs! Each student’s schedule is flexible and is able to assist in a variety of courses, from general education, advanced, and Dual/AP!
Physics Olympiad Club (Ms. Stollar Yates) – In Physics Olympiad Club, students learn and apply physics with fun experiments and participate in state competitions.
Piano Club (Ms. Olds) – Piano Club is for moderate piano players to enhance their skills and create a piano ensemble.
Pickleball Club (Mr. Gephart) – Pickleball Club is a place where players of all levels can come together to play friendly matches.
Red Cross (Ms. Olds) – Red Cross is all about students volunteering to help the community.
Science Fair Club (Mr. Lannen) – Science Fair Club aims to make a pipeline for students at OHS to be able to make it to bigger competitions by hosting science fairs.
Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica [Spanish Honor Society] (Mtra. Zaragoza) – Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica is a Spanish Honor Society that seeks to create cultural awareness and appreciation. It is a community of students with different backgrounds that work together to celebrate and learn about Hispanic culture. Students celebrate Hispanic holidays, create and share traditional crafts and dishes, watch movies, host book rallies and fundraisers to support Hispanic communities, and more.
Society of Female Scholars (Stollar Yates) – SOFS is a female-run club that gives back to the community through fundraising, along with fun activities.
Speech and Debate (Ms. Burstynski) – Speech and Debate is a competitive club that pushes students to use analytical thinking and creativity at the same time.
STEM Club (Ms. Eick) – STEM club is a student-run organization where students explore science, technology, engineering, and math with hands-on projects. Members get the chance to create or research projects for the club to work on. It is not just about academics; it is about teamwork, curiosity, and applying what you learn.
Tabletop Club (Ms. Yoon) – Tabletop Club is for anyone who enjoys Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, Warhammer, and other board games. Through collaborative storytelling and teamwork, students can have fun engaging in epic battles or silly shenanigans.
Tennis Club (Mr. Gephart) – Tennis Club is a place where players of all levels can come together to play friendly matches.
