It is no secret that OHS experienced flooding in the north west corner of the 600 building on Aug. 19. The flood resulted in the remodeling of multiple classrooms and hallways.

In light of the flooding on the second week of school the construction behind the main gym of two classrooms and another athletic trainers room, has been set back two weeks behind schedule.

The initial reaction of staff and faculty was shock and disbelief. “Twelve years and we have never had anything like that.” said OHS Plant Foreman, Tim Vaughn.

Vaughn’s first thought was to get the emergency response team to the school, and start getting things back in order.

Along with the construction of the new classrooms behind the gym, the tasks of new drywall, insulation, paint and new carpeting was added to the list of things needed to help the school run safely and efficiently.

The emergency response team has been working after school hours and on weekends in order to fix the damages as soon as possible, according to Vaughn.

The original completion date of the construction was Dec.16. The OHS staff and faculty hope to have the new rooms completed and ready for use by second semester.
