STUGO is holding the annual United Blood Services’ blood drive on Tuesday Nov. 26 in the gym.
The drive goes on all day and you get out of one of your preferred classes when you go to donate blood, as long as you and your parent/guardian have filled out the permission slip.
For females there are height and weight requirements listed on the permission slip, for males the only requirement is that you are at least 5’ tall and weigh at least 110 pounds.
You must be 16 years or older to donate blood.
Before donating blood, make sure you are well-hydrated and have recently eaten a salty snack.
By Nov. 22 make sure you have turned your Minor Donor Permit to the black box outside room 426.
Have your ID containing your name and picture with you when you go to donate blood.
If you have recently gotten a tattoo or self piercing you are ineligible to donate.
The entire donation time will be roughly about an hour, including the 15 minutes you will spend in the refreshment area after donating before returning to class.
“It’s a nice chance for us to help out the community. It shows that OC really cares,” Said STUGO member Mia Romero, sophomore.
Each time someone donates blood three lives are saved.
