OHS Students saved lives by donating blood on Tuesday, April 2.
STUGO hosted the United Blood Services in the auxiliary gym and had nurses take donations of blood from the students.
Spencer Leis, sophomore, was patiently waiting to get his blood drawn for the first time.
“I have always wanted to donate blood and the first couple times I missed it, so I thought this would be a good chance to do it, and when they said that it would saves a couple of lives, I never thought twice about it,” said Leis.
The blood drive has become a popular and common thing at OHS.
According to some students, they just do it to get out of class but afterward they find out how much it helps people and always go back to do it again.
Gabrielle Ingram, junior, said the first time she did it was to get out of class but since then she has always done it when it comes around.
“I feel accomplished because I know that I am saving lives, and it is a little nerve racking when you see the needle but they are very comforting and after it was done I felt really accomplished,” said Justin Dierken, junior.
According to the students, the main reason for donating blood was to save lives and the opportunity to do it was right there.
“You never know if you could be helping someone out that you know, so I am all up for donating blood whenever the opportunity comes around,” said Leis.
