The giant concrete SDOHS letters in front of the main gym have been finalized. They will be taking the fence off by the end of this week according to school officials.
The letters took a month to make, they dried last week and were set up Saturday with cranes.
“It makes me proud to know that we have these letters on the campus for everybody to see, because it stands out, you can see the letters from Happy Valley,” said Mike Cornish OHS Athletic Director.
The seniors from last year’s student government donated $12,000 to make the letters, the cost did not come out of the school, and that was not including the cost for the construction builders.
“Each letter weighs 10,000 – 12,000 pounds, so they won`t be going anywhere,” said Cornish.
According to Cornish having the letters vandalized does not worry him because we live in a very nice area and they always have extra gray paint to cover it.
