On January 16, 2013 OHS experienced flooding in the computer lab and according to the Athletics Director Mike Cornish, who is also in charge of the facilities, the insurance company is going to put in about $35,000 for the total.
“The insurance company is paying for the total cost of everything; the school is not responsible for any of it,” said Cornish. “The people that did some of the construction on the pipes about 10 years ago put the items in the wrong spot, which was the cause, so ever since then we have been lucky.”
The fixing company has been coming in everyday and looking at all the pipes to see what they can do to get it done as fast as they can. But other than that all that’s been done is the general cleanup.
“Originally the fixing company said that it will be fixed in two to three weeks but I don’t see that happening,” said librarian Susan Hubbs.
According to Hubbs, ISNT has supplied 35 laptops for the school to use until the damages get fixed.
“In total 10 computers got damaged, since the lab has got a lot of damage and the air is shut off in there, the environment is not safe with no air circulation so we can’t use 26 of the computers,” said Hubbs
The school has set tables up in the back of the library so that they can have enough computers for everybody to use because teachers had scheduled plans to use the labs for their classes.
The rooms that can still be used are Lab 156 and the sweep room.
