All your life you are told to be yourself, be unique, express yourself. Drama Club is a chance for you to be yourself and someone else at the same time. In other words, Drama Club gives you a chance to show off your talent.
“[The drama club is] exciting, interactive, and accepting,” said drama club member and head of improv, Rain Whalen, senior.
“[It’s] for everyone,” said Blythe Lambert, senior and secretary for the club.
Every year between 100 and 200 students join.
“I think students enjoy the club because it is all inclusive. Everyone is welcome whenever they are able to come, we don’t put a limit on absences and don’t have a strict attendance policy,” said Toni Fioramonti, theatre teacher, and drama club co-sponsor.
Darrell Hudson, stage production and world history teacher, manages the technical side of the drama club and their productions.
This year the drama club will meet twice a month but they also have other fun events such as game night, karaoke night and Theater Thanksgiving.
The productions planned for this year are Fools, Little Women and the musical Into the Woods.
“Performing gets me excited,” Whalen said.
“I enjoy watching the club members create and perform something that they have put their time and effort into.” Fioramonti said.
One student who is new to the club is Amma Sarkodee-Adoo, sophomore.
“It’s always something I’ve wanted to do. I want to meet new people and all the drama people seem really cool,”said Sarkodee-Adoo.
All kinds of people join the club for a number of reasons and they all enjoy it.
