The coming-of-age show The Summer I Turned Pretty has officially moved on to its third and final season. The television series is wrapping up in three seasons, just like the trilogy of books by Jenny Han that the show is based on.
The past two seasons of The Summer I Turned Pretty have mainly followed Isabelle Conklin, better known as Belly, and her journey at Cousins Beach with two brothers named Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalengo). The show has navigated through themes such as friendship, family dynamics, love, grief, and many more, making it a popular show among the younger generations.
The show has always caused controversy among its audience. Is Belly a good main character, or not? Is the show cringy or realistic? Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah? No matter what side people decide to take, most can agree that the show does indeed have its flaws.
The first couple of season three episodes came out on July 16th, and the last episode is set to release on September 27th. By the time the season finale airs, 11 total episodes will have been released, and it will officially be revealed if Belly ends up with who she ended up with in the books.
As of the time this was written, five episodes have been released, and even though it is not even halfway through the season, it has been extremely eventful. One of the first surprising things about this season is the time jump from the start of Belly’s freshman year of college to the summer before her senior year of college.
The time jump alone is a bit of a shock; and, over the course of the three years, the characters have changed drastically. Belly and Jeremiah have fully adapted to college life, with Jeremiah joining a frat (and fitting every frat stereotype perfectly), and Conrad living in California to focus on his career and mental health.
Many fans are in agreement that Jeremiah’s character has gone downhill since the end of season two. After specific actions taken by him in season three, most of the audience that had previously been team Jeremiah switched to the other side. Even with the certain decisions the season chose to make, it continues to captivate viewers across the country.
