It’s third down and the team you are rooting for has the ball. They are on the fifteen yard line and down by a touchdown. The crowd is cheering obnoxiously. The quarterback gets the ball from the center, throws it and the crowd goes quiet… just watching and waiting to see where the ball goes. After what feels like an eternity but is only a few seconds, the player catches the ball and scores. The crowd goes wild. Touchdown!
The next home game for the Cardinals is Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2:25pm., they face the Houston Texans. The Cards are 4-4 and the Texans are 2-6. It’s only about a 45 minute drive and a great way to spend your Sunday afternoon.
The University of Phoenix Stadium is home to the Arizona Cardinals. It’s one of the newer stadiums in the NFL, built in 2006. It’s a huge arena. Not only can it house 63,400 people, but it has six levels: the field (or service) level, the main concourse, the club level, the suite level, the upper concourse and the mechanical level.
Security
The University of Phoenix has a new security policy that is a pretty big deal, you can only bring in approved bags. The bag must be: a clear tote (the biggest accepted is a 12’’ x 12’’), a plastic storage bag (cannot be bigger than a one gallon and it must be re-sealable and clear) or a small clutch bag (cannot be larger the 4.5’’ x 6.5’’). The new security policy is meant to make the environment safer for the public. For more information on stadium security, visit: www.universityofphoenixstadium.com .
Seats
I saw the Cardinals vs the Atlanta Falcons game and it was a blast. My seats were on the home side right on the fifty yard line, not to mention the twelfth row. I could literally see the player’s faces. It wasn’t my first time in the seats, I usually sit there, but this time I got to bring my three friends which made things way better. They were all impressed with how great of seats we had and how close and involved we were. Seat prices range from $11 to $300.
Food
We all got our own mini pizzas from Papa John’s and sodas. The pizza was decent, but pricey. For four mini pizzas and two large drinks our total was $48… sort of ridiculous. Stadium food is always expensive, but it seems like as the seasons progress things get more costly.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere is the best part. Everyone is just so involved. You see people decked out in Cardinal gear, yelling and cheering for their team. The fans really are able to express themselves and show their dedication. Everyone is just trying to have fun and a good time. You’d be surprised how many people are die hard fans, it’s super neat!
