There you are walking slowly, not knowing what to feel.
Breathing heavy, terrified, your heart is racing a million miles a second and you are doing your best to stay calm. You know something is going to pop out as you turn the corner, even though you aren’t sure what… and BAM! Out pops a zombie that starts chasing you with a chainsaw.
You’re panicking so much you can barely breathe, running as fast as you can, trying to make your legs move as quickly as possible. Screaming and yelling, beyond scared. Finally, after what feels like forever, the zombie gives up and you are able to stop and breathe although it won’t be for long…
Fear Farm is considered one of the scariest places with haunted houses in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s on 99th avenue and McDowell. It’s about a 30 minute drive, but it’s totally worth it.
It consists of five different “haunts.” They are: Chainsaw Mayhem, Descent, Condemned, Tremmor’s and Flinch’s Funhouse, and Twisted Fairytales.
Chainsaw Mayhem was my favorite one. Being chased by huge creepy characters with chainsaws (without the blades) and screaming my head off, was such a thrill.
There are all sorts of scary and creepy characters in this Haunt. I was probably the most terrified in this one because the characters were really involved. They chase you, pop out at you, follow you and talk to you. They really do scare you. My friends and I got cornered by the characters and I really didn’t think I was going to make it. It was horrifying.
The Descent was really weird. It had alien-like figures and characters throughout. I am personally not a fan of aliens, so I got really uncomfortable. Just looking at the figures freaked me out. At the end you have to cross a bridge that is in a spinning tunnel with neon lights and it is trippy. I felt like I was falling, although I was just walking normal. It was actually really cool.
The Condemned Haunt was frightening. You enter a small town and then next thing you know you are plagued by intensity and mayhem. All of these psychotic looking people are yelling and screaming at you, not to mention scaring you. I really didn’t think I would make it out alive, that was how intimidated I was.
Tremmor’s and Flinch’s Funhouse was an adventure. There were a lot of mazes and obstacles that were alarming. You’d think you’d be able to catch a break and then when you least expect it, somebody would pop out or scare you. Climbing through the tunnel and through the school bus was definitely not comforting. It was probably my second favorite.
Finally, the Twisted Fairytales. This Haunt really made you feel like a little kid again, a terrified little kid. It turns your childhood fairytales into nightmares. The dolls approach you, yelling and screaming at you, begging for your help. It seriously gets your anxiety going. This haunt gave me a thrill I will never forget.
Overall I had an amazing time. I wouldn’t suggest any kids go, especially without a parent. You should be able to handle the thrill, or it’s not worth the $25.
