Is there any way to explain just how much I want to go home right now and watch TV?

I don’t understand, but every fiber in my body is keeping me from doing my homework.

Why am I not focused?!

These are questions everyone asks themselves during their high school career, but rarely until the end do we find the answer.

Senioritis is the feeling of the loss of significance in academics. It is a term otherwise used to describe the lazy phase that upperclassmen go through during their final semester in school.

Once the undergraduate has the mentality that their college or dream job is set for them, they decide it’s okay to sit back and relax.

However, it’s important to take a stand and know what you can do to avoid the consequences of laziness.

It’s completely understandable why seniors become inflicted with senioritis.

They have to deal with fulfilling last-minute extracurricular activities, applying for colleges, preparing for graduation, and other challenges which come with transitioning into a fully-legal adult.

First semester is easy to tolerate.

We spend the duration of six months planning, organizing work, and getting to know new people in our classes. Eventually, it becomes an enjoyed practice and we feel better about ourselves for putting in the hard work.

Once routine kicks in, we become lazy, thinking we’ve got everything under control, and this leads to failure, fear of failure, anxiety from fear, and lowered self-esteem.

Eight out of eleven students confess that they’re procrastinators when it comes to doing school work.

After all, who wants to do homework when they could go on Youtube or take rapid-fire selfies?

Time management systems and a little bit of focus and determination are quality prerequisites to surviving the symptoms of senioritis.

Sticky notes are a good resource for remembering events or due dates, but they can get hectic at times.

Downloading a decent schedule app is exceptional for keeping track of assignments in conjunction with the days of the year.

Keeping up with all this requires constant attention. When class ends, try referring to your schedule to get into that no-brainer routine.

Above all, it’s important not to give in to stress.

Stay Classy OC.
