OHS badminton season begins

This year’s badminton season has already begun and the 24-student OHS team is off to a strong start.

So far, this season, they have won 9-0 against Sunrise Mountain High School and 7-2 against Shadow Mountain High School.

Coach Paula Cappelletti and team member Samantha Evans each made it a point to say that they’re determined to go to state this year after placing fifth in the state last year.

“It’s going to be a rough year,” said Evans. “We only have five seniors.”

Cappelletti would like the OHS student body to know that the girls are doing great this year and that badminton games are now free to attend, typically occurring at 4:00 p.m. on their designated days and in their respective locations.

In regards to her expectations for the season, she said, “with hard work we will be successful.”

The team roster is as follows: Lexie Alejandre, Brooke Black, Lara Brown, Trisha Browning, Gillian Clemens, Hannah Carpentar, Susan Chen, Jamilia Cosay, Samantha Evans, Rebecca Felton, Lilly Ha, Maddie Kalafus, Rebecca Long, Alexis Mahrt, Breana Miller, Abigail Naylor, Sidney Nguyen, Abby Persons, Hailey Persons, Siearra Rowlan, Amelia Shehi, Maddy Worley, Sarah Yahner and Alexis Yanko.
